Mafube Business Forum (MBF) has shown strong growth since its inception, as more business people and individuals realize that positive change is needed in the local business environment, and that MBF is the key to this. We have built our capacity as an organization and thoroughly tested how well different types of interventions will work at the local level to bring about the necessary change.
MBF is now on the threshold of achieving what has never been done before in this country - the impact of which will certainly have a lasting positive effect on the lives of all of us. Even through many conservative assumptions about this impact, we believe we will make a significant contribution to the way local authorities will work nationwide in the future, in terms of governance, community involvement and sustainable service delivery.
Our actions and interventions are not limited to discussions and legal actions to address the status quo; we have enough room to grow, and proactively develop and test new models, especially to attract new investment to our region. The protection of our water resources and the establishment of our own large-scale solar power generation plant is only the first of a series of development initiatives that MBF has realized.
From the outset, a definite decision was made not to make any promises to the community that we would not be able to carry out and therefore to date MBF has never asked for financial contributions - only membership fees and donations for specific projects were advanced.
MBF wants to benefit from our growth, by scaling up some of the most promising opportunities to attract and retain new members and corporate partners, and by complementing our knowledge in extremely promising areas such as energy, water and human resource management. This means expanding our facilities and staff, bringing in new skills and experience, and giving us more people to tackle projects that we simply cannot achieve with the current staff numbers.
